KEMP, Texas, Nov. 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Larson Electronics, a Texas-based company with over 40 years of experience spearheading the industrial lighting and equipment sectors, announced the release of a three-phase step-down Buck and Boost transformer with an 88.6 kVA rating, primary voltage of 480V Delta and secondary voltage of 440V Delta. This unit uses a maximum of 104.17 amps on the primary side and provides up to 114.83 amps on the secondary side. The MT-BBT-480D-440D-3P-114.83A three-phase Buck and Boost step-down transformer provides protection against critical equipment failure and extra protection by isolating the power source from the connected device. This unit’s core is made of non-aging, cold-rolled silicon steel laminations and is configured without a neutral. The core is coated to prevent moisture and is electrically balanced to minimize axial forces in the event of a short circuit.

Larson Electronics’ three-phase transformer can be mounted on the floor or wall and features a 180˚C insultation with a 115˚C temperature rise. This highly efficient device has lower heat emissions and has a NEMA 3R painted steel enclosure suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. NEMA 4, 4X and 12 enclosures are also available.

Suitable applications for this transformer include air conditioners, lighting systems, heating elements, motor applications and other applications that that require the ability to power loads that differ from the available line voltage. Some limitations to consider with this unit are that the device will only transform voltage and will not convert phases. The unit does not have circuit isolation and does not create a neutral for applications where a neutral is already present.

"Our three-phase buck and boost transformers are designed to help applications maximize performance and maintain a longer lifespan," said Rob Bresnahan, CEO of Larson Electronics LLC. "This technology was designed with the operator in mind, so they can run their equipment safely while saving on energy cost."

· Costs/kg was £4.31 for the quarter (Q3 2017: £4.76/kg). SSC changed its accounting basis for mortalities from Q1 2018 to be in line with industry standards resulting in 2018 costs being transitionally lower by £0.24/kg year to date. Re-phasing harvests and lower mean weights also impacted on costs during the quarter.
· The underlying demand for Scottish salmon remains strong. Export volumes accounted for 51% of total sales during the period, up from 47% in Q3 2017.  SSC continues to develop overseas markets, particularly in North America and the Far East. Exports to markets outside Europe were lower in the third quarter than earlier in 2018 due to smaller harvest sizes.
· Good growth continues in the standing biomass. The annual tonnage target for 2018 is revised to 29,500 tonnes from the previously stated 28,000 tonnes.
· SSC achieved a two-star Best Aquaculture Practice (BAP) certification including marine sites and processing plants.
· SSC continues to develop its operational platform and acquired a hatchery and fresh-water site in the North of Scotland during November 2018 which will increase smolt production capacity by around 1.5 million, further developing its freshwater infrastructure.

*CEO comment*

Craig Anderson, Chief Executive Officer at The Scottish Salmon Company, said:

"Historically, the third quarter has been the most challenging for The Scottish Salmon Company. However, whilst the third quarter this year has not been without issues, on balance it was a solid quarter. Overall biological performance has been good and we are increasing our harvest volume guidance for the full year to 29,500 tonnes."

"The demand for Scottish salmon remains strong. Based on our Scottish provenance we continue to develop and promote our brands and products and build long term relationships with customers. An effective operational platform is fundamental to our strategy, securing consistent sustainable production of high quality salmon with efficient flow throughout the value chain."

"We are pleased to further strengthen our operations with the addition of a freshwater facility in the North reflecting our focus on responsible business growth, improving operations, streamlining activities and increasing capacity."

Generation Mining Identifies VTEM Conductors on Pb-Zn-Cu Properties in Nova Scotia

$
0
0
TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Generation Mining Limited (CSE:GENM, the “Company”) is pleased to announce initial results from the 2018 airborne VTEM survey, part of the base metals exploration program in central Nova Scotia.  The program has identified a number of anomalies representing high-priority drill targets on the recently-staked Rawdon East property.  A 222 line-km VTEM[] survey, completed in August, has identified VTEM anomalies in geologic units which host a number of historical lead-zinc deposits.  Since the late 1800s, the Middle Stewiacke region has been known to host numerous carbonate-hosted base metal and barite deposits (Figure 1) hosted by marine sedimentary rocks and evaporites in the Windsor Group of rocks.Notable deposits hosted in this formation are the Walton Ba-Pb-Zn-Cu-Ag deposit (located 50 km west of the Rawdon East property), which produced 4.3 million tons of barite along with 412,000 tons of sulphide mineralization grading 4.28% lead, 1.29% zinc, 0.52% copper and 350 grams/tonne silver; the Gays River mine (located 25 km south) which has a current measured and indicated resource of 12,205,000 tonnes grading 2.76% zinc and 1.60% lead in several deposits; and the Smithfield deposit (located within the Rawdon West property on claims not owned by Generation Mining) which produced briefly in the 1880s, and  in the 1950s reported a 500,000 ton deposit grading 3.5% zinc and 2.7% lead. A drill hole in the 1990s returned 10.5 metres grading 28.25% zinc and 1.48% lead. On the north side of the deposit a drill hole in 1984 returned 8.23 metres grading 11.82% combined lead-zinc at a depth of 220 metres near the boundary with the Generation Mining property.  The base-metal deposit at Smithfield has a strong structural control in a setting very similar to the Walton deposit.

The VTEM conductors of primary interest lie within the prospective lower units of the Windsor Group rocks, coincident with discrete basement magnetic anomalies and a broader magnetic expression indicating near surface proximity to the basement rocks. As shown in Figure 2., on the west side of the Rawdon East property, the VTEM survey has detected a large area (>3x3km) of discrete, conductive source rocks, associated with an unexplored area of lower Windsor Group rocks, that are believed to be prospective for Pb-Zn-Cu deposits.  Consequently, the conductive responses may be indicative of base metal sulphide mineralization, within 200m of the surface.

Generation Mining continues to review exploration data for nearby Rawdon West (formerly Kennetcook) property which was also the subject to a large airborne VTEM program this year, and results will be released as they are interpreted. The Company plans to begin drilling the highest priority anomalies in early 2019, subject to financing and permitting.

A sperm whale has been found dead in Indonesia with 115 plastic cups and 25 plastic bags in its stomach, raising concern among environmentalists and throwing the spotlight on the country's rubbish problem.

The items were part of nearly six kilograms (13 pounds) of plastic waste discovered in the 9.5-metre (31-foot) carcass when it washed ashore in Wakatobi National Park, in Southeast Sulawesi province, on Monday.

Other debris included flip-flops and ripped tarpaulins, the head of Wakatobi tourism, La Ode Saleh Hanan, told AFP on Wednesday.

Conservation group WWF Indonesia said on social media its staff found four plastic bottles and 3.26 kilograms of raffia rope, as well as the plastic bags and cups.

The exact cause of the whale's death is not yet known but there are signs that "plastic waste might have triggered it", WWF Indonesia marine species conservation coordinator Dwi Suprapti told AFP.

Wakatobi district, a picturesque collection of four main islands surrounded by a marine reserve, has urged Indonesia's central government to help tackle the problem of marine debris.

Indonesia is the world's second-biggest contributor to marine debris after China, and a colossal 1.29 million metric tons is estimated to be produced annually.

Military Child of the Year nominees could receive a trip to Washington, D.C., recognition at the MCOY gala, $10,000, and a laptop.

SAN ANTONIO (PRWEB) November 21, 2018

The deadline to nominate a military child for Operation Homefront’s 2019 Military Child of the Year® (MCOY) Awards is Wednesday, December 5th. Military Child of the Year® is the nation’s premier celebration of the achievements of military children. The MCOY awards will be presented at a recognition gala on April 18, 2019, in Washington, DC.

The annual awards event recognizes seven outstanding young people, ages 13 to 18, who are legal dependents of a service member or military retiree. Six Military Child of the Year® recipients will represent a branch of the armed forces — the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard — demonstrating resiliency, leadership, and achievement during their parents’ military service. The seventh award is the Military Child of the Year® Award for Innovation presented by global technology and consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. This award goes to a military child who has designed a bold and creative solution to address a local, regional, or global challenge. Children may be nominated for one of the service branch awards as well as the Award for Innovation.

“For the past decade, Operation Homefront’s Military Child of the Year® Awards has recognized the extraordinary young people in military families who serve alongside their parents and excel while facing the pressures and uncertainties associated with military life,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., President and CEO of Operation Homefront. “We are very proud to celebrate these amazing military children who demonstrate resiliency, perform with excellence in the classroom, and volunteer their time to support others and their communities. I encourage those in the military community and beyond to nominate a military child for this national level recognition of exceptional service.”

To nominate a child for the award, visit http://www.militarychildoftheyear.org and click the Nominations tab. Nomination fields include when and how long a parent has deployed, number of family moves, Gold Star Family or Exceptional Family Member Program status, whether a parent is a wounded service member, nominee’s volunteerism, and five short answers as to why the nominee is deserving.

All seven Military Child of the Year® Award recipients will be flown with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C., and recognized at the April 18 gala, where they will receive $10,000 each and a laptop computer. The recipient of the Military Child of the Year® Award for Innovation will also receive donated business expertise in bringing their creative solution to market.

Previous recipients remember their Military Child of the Year® Award as both an honor and an amazing experience.

“Working hard to be extremely involved can be difficult because oftentimes I would question whether or not it was all worth it. When I found out I won, I was in awe. It gave me a realization that hard work does really pay off. It was an opportunity and moment I will never forget,” said 2018 National Guard Military Child of the Year® Aaron Hall of Coarsegold, Calif.

The 2018 Coast Guard Military Child of the Year®, Roark Corson of Virginia Beach, Va., said, “I was both honored and humbled to receive such a prestigious award, and extremely proud to represent the resilient and resourceful military dependents across the world.”

Global Energy Ventures achieves milestone for approval of cargo system

Global Energy Ventures Ltd (ASX:GEV) has made significant positive progress to close out three final tests required to obtain American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) full class design approval. Testing is part of the company’s overall progress in designing a new ship to transport compressed natural gas (CNG), known as the CNG Optimum. The final tests required for ABS approval are the long-term fatigue test, the notched burst test after fatigue, and the cooled burst test after fatigue. The long-term fatigue test has now been successfully achieved, with the remaining two test scheduled for completion within the month. READ: Global Energy Ventures banks $1 million R&D tax rebate for CNG Optimum Ship development work GEV’s chairman and CEO Maurice Brand said: “Based on the completion of the tests in September, October, and November we have now proved the CNG Optimum design. “GEV is now working with shipyards to obtain ship construction costs; delivery schedules and construction options. “GEV will now commence together with Clarkson’s, GEV’s ship broker, on structured financing options.” READ: Global Energy Ventures passes second critical test in approval process for unique CNG Optimum Ship The proprietary CNG Optimum is a world-leading CNG ship design and the result of two decades in the development of marine CNG solutions. The Optimum ship design maximises the amount of CNG that can be stored within the hull of a ship. The Optimum containment system is constructed using close-packed, high strength pipes that run the entire length of the ship’s cargo hold. The invention of a mechanism to clamp these gas storage pipes so tightly together that they become locked together as one, allows this design to meet all classification requirements. Benefits over converting to liquefied natural gas Marine CNG is the transportation by ship of natural gas stored under pressure. For this purpose, natural gas is simply mechanically compressed, as it is in a pipeline. Unlike liquefied natural gas (LNG), CNG does not require complex and expensive liquefaction facilities.  CNG is simpler, less expensive and has a significantly smaller footprint. The result is that CNG can provide an attractive marine transportation solution, which is easier and quicker to permit and implement for the transportation of smaller volumes of gas over shorter distances.
