Belcampo Co-Founders Anya Fernald and Todd Robinson Introduce First Organic Single-Estate Rums from Belize

PUNTA GORDA, Belize (PRWEB) October 10, 2018

Co-founders Anya Fernald and Todd Robinson are proud to announce the launch of Copalli Rum, an organic single-estate rum made in the heart of the Southern Belize rainforest. Copalli is crafted with passion and sustainability at its core, made from just three ingredients, including heirloom sugar cane, yeast, and filtered canopy water sourced directly from the distillery’s farm.

“Copalli is an incredibly unique spirit,” says Copal Tree Distillery co-founder Anya Fernald. She adds, “It’s a 100% authentic rum with all aspects of the product hand-crafted and grown in the most ecological way possible. Putting a rum with this kind of sustainable integrity into the market is going to raise the bar, in the best way.”

Reflecting the terroir of the tropical Belizean farm where it’s produced, Copalli redefines the craft rum category with two grades of product that can be sipped on their own or as an ideal base for classic and modern rum cocktails; current expressions include:

White Rum (84 Proof/42% ABV)
A double distillation of fresh sugarcane juice—crushed within two hours of being cut—the white rum is made with a blend of pot and column distillation with a long resting of the finished product on stainless steel. The smooth end product displays vanilla, coffee bean, and grass on the nose with fresh berries, citrus zest, and cactus notes to finish.

Barrel Rested Rum (88 Proof/44% ABV)
The Barrel Rested Rum is made using double distillation of sugarcane juice, use of exclusively full-bodied copper pot still distillation with French technique. It is aged in American Oak bourbon barrels to create a rich sweet rum displaying cola and leather on the nose with tasting notes including cinnamon, nutmeg, and tobacco.

The distillery is zero-impact and powered by sustainable, regenerative biomass and the process supports full-circle conversion of waste from production into agricultural inputs. The sugarcane used to produce the rum is grown on Copal Tree Farms, so all levels of products can be overseen from start to finish. The founders have spearheaded the philanthropic support of the local community in Southern Belize for over 20 years, through a legacy of rainforest preservation, marine conservation, and support of local education. Copal Tree Distillery supports the local community as the largest employer in Southern Belize, providing over 100 jobs to local residents in a clean and safe working environment. Additionally, the group provides education grants for local girls and boys to continue their education into high school.

Copalli Rum retails for $28.99 (White Rum) and $34.99 (Barrel Rested Rum).

Achieves 19.4% Year over Year Revenue Growth and Operating Income of $0.9 million in Q1

LAFOX, Ill., Oct. 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RELL) today reported financial results for its first quarter ended September 1, 2018. The Company also announced that its Board of Directors declared a $0.06 per share quarterly cash dividend. *First Quarter Results*

Net sales for the first quarter of fiscal 2019 increased 19.4% to $44.2 million compared to net sales of $37.0 million in the prior year’s first quarter. There were 13 weeks in the first quarter of fiscal 2019 compared to 14 weeks in last year’s first quarter. Sales increased $5.7 million for PMT and $1.4 million for Canvys. PMT sales were higher in power conversion and RF and microwave components, RF and microwave tubes and specialty products sold into the semiconductor wafer fabrication capital equipment market. Sales increased for Canvys due to new program wins and higher overall demand across both the U.S. and Europe. Sales also increased for Richardson Healthcare by $0.1 million due to higher equipment and CT Tube sales, partially offset by lower sales of diagnostic imaging parts.

Gross margin increased to $14.0 million, or 31.6% of net sales during the first quarter of fiscal 2019, compared to $12.1 million, or 32.8% of net sales during the first quarter of fiscal 2018. Margin decreased as a percent of net sales primarily due to a less favorable product mix in both PMT and Richardson Healthcare. Canvys margin as a percent of net sales increased primarily due to an improved product mix and lower costs on selected products sold.

Operating expenses increased to $13.1 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2019, compared to $12.3 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2018. This increase was a result of additional compensation and other expenses primarily related to the increase in net sales. Operating expenses as a percent of net sales decreased to 29.7% in the current quarter from 33.3% in last year’s first quarter.

The Company reported $0.9 million of operating income for the first quarter of fiscal 2019 compared to operating income of $15,000 in the prior year’s first quarter, which included a $0.2 million gain on the disposal of a building.

Other expense for the first quarter of fiscal 2019, primarily foreign exchange, was $0.2 million, compared to other expense of $0.1 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2018.

The income tax provision of $0.3 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2019 reflected a provision for foreign income taxes based on the current quarter’s geographical distribution of income and no U.S. tax benefit due to the valuation allowance recorded against the net operating loss.

Net income for the first quarter of fiscal 2019 was $0.4 million, compared to a net loss of $0.1 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2018. Earnings per common share (diluted) in the first quarter of fiscal 2019 were $0.03.

*CASH DIVIDEND*

The Company also announced today that its Board of Directors declared a $0.06 quarterly dividend per share to holders of common stock and a $0.054 cash dividend per share to holders of Class B common stock. The dividend will be payable on November 21, 2018, to common stockholders of record as of November 7, 2018.

Cash and investments at the end of the first quarter of fiscal 2019 were $54.8 million compared to $60.5 million at the end of fiscal 2018 and $61.4 million at the end of the first quarter of fiscal 2018. The use of cash in the first quarter of 2019 was primarily due to payments for accounts payable transactions from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2018. During the first quarter of fiscal 2019, the Company did not repurchase any shares of its common stock under the existing share repurchase authorization. Currently, there are 11.0 million outstanding shares of common stock and 2.1 million outstanding shares of Class B common stock.

*OUTLOOK*

“I am pleased to report an operating income of $0.9 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2019 as compared to a $15,000 operating income in the first quarter of fiscal 2018,” said Edward J. Richardson, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President. “Achieving a 19.4% increase in revenue over the prior year is a good start. We will need to stay focused on our key initiatives as we face a temporary slowdown in the semiconductor wafer fab market. We continue to be excited about the growth in PMT associated with our investments in new power and microwave technologies, as well as the introduction of our new ALTA750^TM CT Tube,” Mr. Richardson concluded.

In honor of the month-long holiday, APPA has a round-up of products to help new dog owners

STAMFORD, Conn. (PRWEB) October 12, 2018

The American Pet Products Association (APPA) is pleased to celebrate the joys and benefits dogs bring to our lives, and encourage dog ownership in honor of Adopt-a-Dog Month (October). According to the 2017-2018 APPA National Pet Owners Survey, over 60 million U.S. households have a dog and there are a total of 89.7 million dogs owned in the U.S. The Survey also reveals top benefits to dog ownership: love and companionship, stress relief, and fun to have in the household. And dogs can help make us healthier too. Research conducted by the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) finds dogs can help improve heart health, alleviate depression, increase well-being, support child health and development, and contribute to healthy aging. SQF certification is part of LR’s expanded GFSI service portfolio with increased focus on meeting client needs across the food and beverage supply chain

HOUSTON (PRWEB) October 12, 2018

Leading provider of professional assurance services Lloyd’s Register (LR) has become a licensed certification body for the Safety Quality Food (SQF) certification program.

SQFI is managed by the Safety Quality Food Institute (SQFI), a division of the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and is the largest GFSI-recognized food safety certification program in the United States and Canada and one of the fastest growing food safety standards in Mexico. The program helps businesses address any food safety issues and reduces costs associated with running several different assessment standards.

The SQF certification program is on its 8th Edition, and LR is offering gap analysis and certification services for organizations pursuing SQF certification as well as those are already certified.

SQF certification is recognized around the world and organizations across the food supply chain choose SQF because it helps demonstrate food safety assurances to retailers and service providers as verifiable proof that robust, rigorous and credible food safety control systems are in place to help protect consumers, brands and supply chains.

“With over 33,000 food and beverage clients around the world and increasing demand for SQF certification, we’re pleased to offer SQF as part of our complete GFSI service portfolio,” said Stuart Kelly, Head of Commercial Customized Assurance, Lloyd’s Register. He added, “Food safety is more than a certificate on the wall. It’s a journey, and our team of SQF food safety auditors know the SQF requirements inside and out and are therefore best suited to assess a food safety system with a robust, risk-based approach to help protect our clients’ brands and reputations. We have trained our auditors to focus on the areas that matter most and which often present the highest risks for our clients to provide assessments that help build confidence with our clients’ customers and key stakeholders.”

“Lloyd’s Register is a great brand to bring into our Licenced Certification Bodies family to promote the SQF Program and foster the SQFI Mission and Vision. LR will bolster our core offering and further defines our footprint in the accredited certification market,” said SQFI’s Robert Garfield, Chief Food Safety Assessment Officer & SVP.

Hurricane Michael Shifts Red Tide Back Toward Florida's Gulf Coastline

Hurricane Michael Shifts Red Tide Back Toward Florida's Gulf Coastline Watch VideoAs Hurricane Michael moved through Florida's gulf coast, some environmental experts had hoped it might help break up the state's persistent blooms of toxic algae. Experts are still collecting data in the early aftermath of the storm, but red tide is still a problem for some parts of Florida's Gulf coast.

Meteorologists thought Michael's wind and waves might disperse large spots of algae into smaller, more manageable pools. And the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Wednesday report did show "patchy concentrations" of the algae in the Gulf Shore. But in Sarasota County, researchers with the Mote Marine Laboratory say strong winds pushed a red tide bloom that had been slowly drifting away from the coasts back to shore.

Officials at the laboratory say they will need more time to measure exactly where Michael sent algae. They say runoff from the storm's heavy rains could push life-sustaining nutrients to the blooms, if they're close enough to the coast.

In some places, they definitely are close. In Pineallas County, near Tampa, the director of the environmental management division said "pretty much every beach has been impacted by dead fish" the day after landfall. Tests on the county's beaches showed mostly medium concentration counts for red tide.

The next full report on red tide distributions is expected from Mote Marine Laboratory early in the week. Reported by Newsy 1 day ago.
