FREEPORT, Texas and ALPHARETTA, Ga., Sept. 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bright Light Systems (BLS), a Georgia-based manufacturer of energy-efficient LED luminaires and wireless lighting controls, recently completed Phase 1 of the transition to high-mast LED lighting along with the Bright Light Management System (BLMS) software for Port Freeport.“Port Freeport is continually evaluating innovative technologies that will support sustainable operations. The energy-efficient LED lighting and controls solution from Bright Light Systems supports our commitment to sustainable energy management and reducing our carbon footprint,” said Phyllis Saathoff, Port Freeport Executive Director/CEO.

The two-phase project began with the replacement of the legacy 1000-watt high pressure sodium lights in the Inner Harbor area. The next phase, scheduled to begin in October, will replace the high mast lighting in the Velasco Terminal. Once completed, the LED lighting retrofit will illuminate over 250-acres in the terminal with approximately 400 NOVA HM LED lights with integrated wireless sensors and controls. The high-performance LED lights will offer improved illuminance levels in the terminal along with an operating lifetime of over 100,000 hours. The low-profile design with integrated glare shields will eliminate light trespass and glare for nearby neighborhoods.

Port Freeport Commission Chairman, Paul Kresta said, “The LED lighting retrofit project from Bright Light Systems supports our mission of growth and innovation for Port Freeport. The improved energy savings and reduction in light dispersion to the surrounding community demonstrates our dedication to providing a safer, more efficient environment for our customers and citizens.”

“We’re thrilled Port Freeport has chosen BLS as their terminal lighting solutions provider,” said Bill O’Connor, Executive Vice President of Sales for Bright Light Systems. “By installing the NOVA series LED lights with our intelligent lighting controls platform, we’re helping the port save money while achieving their objective of becoming one of the safest, most sustainable terminals in the country.”

Port Freeport will also take advantage of the Bright Light Management System, a centralized lighting management, monitoring, and reporting platform that offers scheduling capabilities, asset management information, and energy data analytics and reporting.

“Using the dimming and scheduling features of the Bright Light Management System we can directly manage our energy costs while providing a safer, more secure work environment for port personnel. The lighting software from BLS is very intuitive and has made it easy to manage our lighting with respect to port operations resulting in substantial cost savings,” said Al Durel, Director of Operations, Port Freeport.

Bright Light Systems (BLS) combines solid-state LED lighting technology with wireless capabilities and an asset management platform to provide up to 80% energy savings to customers in the high mast lighting market. The Bright Light Management System is a cloud-based asset management, monitoring, and reporting interface that provides unprecedented control for enterprise lighting operations enhancing productivity, safety, and security.

Safe Bulkers, Inc. Agrees with Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. to Install Alfa Laval PureSOx Scrubbers

$

0
MONACO, Sept. 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Safe Bulkers, Inc. (the Company) (NYSE:SB), an international provider of marine drybulk transportation services, announced today that it has agreed with Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry Co. Ltd., (Cosco), a detailed schedule within 2019 for the installation of Alfa Laval PureSOx scrubbers in about half of the Company’s fleet mainly in medium size vessels, Kamsarmax to Post-Panamax class.

More specifically the Company will install scrubbers in five Kamsarmax class vessels, in thirteen Post-Panamax class vessels and in the recently acquired Cape-size class vessel while it maintains an option for an additional scrubber.

All preparatory engineering works are in progress targeting to initiate the first installation in second quarter of 2019 and the last installation in the fourth quarter of 2019, opting for having about half of Company’s fleet operated with Heavy Fuel Oil and the other half, consisting mainly of smaller more fuel efficient vessels, with compliant low sulfur fuels.

Minimization of down time is expected to be achieved through: i) prefabrication of piping and foundation, ii) selection of shipyard with track record in the specific system, iii) installation in group of sister vessels which will permit shorter times after the lead vessel and iv) installation for ten vessels, during their scheduled dry-docking in 2019 which is part of their special survey. Contractually, the expected down time for scrubber installation is 32 days for the first vessel and 30 days for the remaining vessels, while the down time during a scheduled dry docking as part of special survey is about 15 to 20 days. During the same period ERMA First Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) will also be installed, achieving full compliance with IMO regulation Marpol Annex VI, as well as with Ballast Water Management Convention and EPA regulation for Ballast Water Treatment Systems.

The scrubber and the related expenditure for prefabrication and installation is expected to be in aggregate of about $2.0 million per medium size vessel.

This investment will be financed from cash on hand and additional debt.

Cosco is the biggest group in China in terms of annual turnover for ship repair projects, comprised of five ship repair groups including Guangdong, Shanghai, Nantong, Zhousan and Dalian and has extensive experience in ballast water treatment system and scrubbers installation projects.

Alfa Laval is a leading global provider of first-rate products mainly in energy, environment, marine and food.

Erma First BWTS is a United States Coast Guard approved full flow electrolysis system, which has already been successfully installed in four of our vessels, while four more installations are expected to be concluded during scheduled dry dockings this year.

Loukas Barmparis, President of the Company commented: “The retrofit of scrubbers is a demanding job involving the selection of reliable and durable equipment from manufacturer with extensive track record, detailed engineering studies and high quality of installation which should lead to reliable operations for years to come. Our technical department has worked extensively in all those areas in order to make possible the timely delivery at the required standards, within the budgeted costs for nineteen vessels with scrubbers within 2019, minimizing the down time. We are happy to cooperate with Cosco and Alfa Laval for this project and we believe that we will enjoy a short pay-back period for this investment based on price differential between HFO and compliant fuels after January 1^st, 2020”.

KEMP, Texas, Sept. 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Industrial lighting expert, Larson Electronics LLC, has announced the release of an aluminum wall mounted light mast that can quickly and safely deploy lights, cameras and other equipment up to 11 feet. This 5-stage collapsible light tower has a unique wall mount which keeps the unit off the ground, maximizing floor space. The LM-WM-11-4.5-5S-ALU from Larson Electronics is a wall mounted light tower that can deploy LED, HID, halogen and metal halide fixtures, among other various industrial equipment. This telescoping 5-stage light mast extends up to 11 feet and can be collapsed to 4.5 feet in the case of applications that need a smaller light footprint. The mast is elevated via one 1,000-pound manual winch with 3/16” galvanized cable. The addition of a special proprietary mast guidance system helps the tower stand sturdy against high winds up to 125 miles per hour.

This telescoping mast is built with square steel tubing, finished in a powder coating and can support and lift 125 pounds of equipment. The LM-WM-11-4.5-5S-ALU features a wall mounting bracket near the bottom of the tower, which accepts four bolts for strong and stable wall mounting. This mounting configuration is ideal for applications that need more floor space.

This 5-stage light mast can be custom built to tailor to operator needs with longer mast sections, large mounting plates and an optional electric winch for faster deployment.

“The wall-mount on this mast keeps it off the floor allowing for more space in the work area and eliminating any tripping hazard,” said Rob Bresnahan, CEO of Larson Electronics LLC. “It also places the manual winch at a comfortable height making deployment of lights and equipment easy.”

The company has over $15 million cash in hand following the sale of its Watershed Tungsten Project in Queensland. It intends to conserve these funds in an environment where equity financing for junior explorers has become restricted. Deepest intercept 200 metres below surface Bella Tondi’s gold mineralisation is shear zone-hosted and runs roughly north to south, with a steeply east dripping near the contact between shallow mafic intrusives and marine sediments. The shear zone displays dextral displacement by around 100 metres in the centre of Bella Tondi, dividing it into northern and southern sections. Gold mineralisation occurs within highly sheared zones within the broader Bella Tondi zone, with best grades and native gold occurring in black smoky – or greyish – quartz veins. The deepest intercept of gold mineralisation reported lies 200 metres below surface and associated minerals with the mineralisation are pyrite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, hematite and possibly argentopyrite. Varied lithology The three main lithologies intersected in drilling at Bella Tondi are: Meta-sediments (sandstones, siltstones, locally carbonaceous); Altered non-magnetic mafic units (shallow dolerite or basaltic volcanics, previously logged as intermediate intrusives); and Magnetic dolerite dykes (late-stage non-gold bearing). Both the altered mafic units and the meta-sediments are sheared and can host gold mineralisation. The company believes the mafic units are either basalt layers that are part of a marine volcano-sedimentary sequence or dolerite sills that intruded the sediments at a later stage but before shearing and mineralisation took place. Limits to mineralisation prompt review Magnetic dolerite dykes were logged in several diamond drill holes completed in the southern part of Bella Tondi. These dykes are between 1 centimetre and multiple metres wide and, being post-shearing and post-mineralisation, do not contain any gold mineralisation. These apparent limits to high-grade gold mineralisation have prompted Vital to conduct a review of the project. Reported by Proactive Investors 14 hours ago.
