FOX+: Why Carrie Mathison is One of Our Favorite TV Leads Highly praised spy thriller TV series Homeland has been going strong for 7 seasons -- and at the heart of the story is Carrie Mathison

MANILA, Philippines, June 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- FOX+ presents Homeland.Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison in Homeland. © 2018 Showtime Networks, Inc., a CBS Company. All rights reserved.

Since its premiere in 2011, the American thriller has gone on winning both the hearts of viewers and accolades from the entertainment industry. The first season was met with near universal acclaim and was named the best show of 2011 by TV Guide. To date, Homeland which is available on FOX+ has won Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, and Writing Emmy awards across the span of its run.

The show centers on CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and U.S Marine Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis). The premise of the first season focused on agent Mathison's obsession with Brody's potential "threat" to the US after he had come home from being captured by Al-Qaeda. The series then evolves from this main storyline as new seasons came in.

Fans and critics have praised the show's exhilarating plot and gripping writing, but many have also credited the series' success to Claire Danes' performance as Carrie Mathison. To celebrate all episodes of Homeland on FOX+, here are a few reasons why this agent is one of our favorite TV leads.

1.      She follows her instincts and gets things done

Part of why Carrie Mathison does so well as an agent is because even though constantly being doubted by her colleagues and peers, she takes the initiative to do things on her own. In the first season, she trusted her gut and conducted her own investigations, which led her team to helpful answers.

2.      She goes to great lengths to help those she loves

Without revealing too many spoilers, one of Carrie Mathison's most defining traits is what she will do to help out a colleague or someone she cares for -- whether it's protecting them, helping prove their innocence, or saving them from terrorists.

3.      She is flawed and deals with her own demons

Many viewers enjoy Carrie Mathison as a character because of how real, raw, and human she is. A lot of this can be chalked up to how often she makes mistakes on the show, how her flaws are often flaunted, and how she deals with it -- even makes the best of it -- anyway. From a dark family past to her constant struggle with her bipolar disorder to choices she's made that cost the lives of others, there is a lot of humanity and pain in her.

4.      She always puts the mission first

Despite all the setbacks and character flaws that Carrie is burdened with, one big reason why she is so riveting to watch and why audiences feel invested in her is because she has a true sense of determination and purpose. Throughout the series, her convictions are always being tested but the fire in her to do what is right and complete her missions always bring her through.

What leaders are saying is, ‘How can I change this? How can I get the best talent and put them on solving tomorrow’s problems?’” Haythornthwaite said.

In a segment on the Internet of Things (IoT), Haythornthwaite addressed the impact of emerging consumer technologies in the industrial sector: “There is a lot of great technology being developed in the consumer space. In fact, it’s ahead of the industrial space and we’re just helping the industrial space catch up.”

Cargo handling industry looks for real-time visibility and connectivity to improve efficiency and productivity

CARGOTEC CORPORATION, PRESS RELEASE, 12 JUNE 2018 AT 1:30 PM (EEST)

*Cargo handling industry looks for real-time visibility and connectivity to improve efficiency and productivity*

The cargo handling industry increasingly explores cloud-based, collaborative data sharing platforms to provide real-time visibility and connectivity required to improve efficiency and productivity. This is evident from a study conducted by Navis and XVELA, both part of Cargotec's business area Kalmar, and major players within terminal operating systems (TOS) and digital collaboration platforms respectively.

The study, entitled "Working as One," is based on a survey of 250 shipping industry executives and professionals from terminals, ocean carriers, shippers, logistics providers, and other members of the global container supply chain. The report examines how different players can improve their operational processes with coordination and synchronisation, and by working together with a common set of shared data.

"Traditionally the ocean shipping industry has been comprised of isolated processes," says Andy Barrons, Chief Strategy Officer, Navis. "Planning processes across the container flow take place in silos, with little standardisation or real-time information exchange, and few opportunities for collaboration."

"However, many industry executives are realising that there is an immense value to be gained from a more connected, transparent and collaborative approach. With this, the industry idea of tapping into a larger ecosystem of shared data appears to be within reach."

Main survey findings include:

· there is a great industry need to operate with a common set of data
· adoption of new technologies is crucial to enabling real-time collaboration
· substantial improvement in operational performance is expected once real-time collaboration is achieved.

With a growing demand for more information, collaborative platforms like XVELA will provide greater transparency into operational processes and reduce operational waste. The range of expected benefits noted by respondents includes:

· better customer service
· more precise planning for capacity, stowage, and other marine processes
· earlier awareness of disruptions and more time to execute contingency plans
· improved on-time performance and operational/situational awareness
· enhanced coordination among port stakeholders
· better berth planning and utilisation
· better intermodal connectivity and reliability
· better resource allocation.

The survey has been released today at the TOC Europe Conference in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where Kalmar, Navis and XVELA are present. The full survey can be downloaded at: http://navis.com/workingasone.

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla., June 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Business and relationship development for cruise industry stakeholders and key cruise line decision makers—Dominican Republic had it all last week when hosting a group of 200 FCCA Platinum Members, along with their colleagues and even family members, and 20 high-level executives from FCCA Member Lines, which operate about 200 vessels and 95 percent of the global ocean cruising capacity. Taking place from June 6-9 in Punta Cana, the annual FCCA PAMAC Conference again blended business and fun to foster mutual success during an agenda ranging from meetings and site visits to tours and receptions, and with forums discussing everything from industry trends and region-wide affairs to product promotion and member-specific topics.“Platinum Membership events like the FCCA PAMAC Conference are essential to both the members and cruise line representatives,” said Adam Goldstein, Vice-Chairman, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL), and Chairman, FCCA. “They join some of the industry’s most influential decision makers with significant stakeholders from the Caribbean and Latin America, which leads to positive developments for all parties.”

“The FCCA PAMAC Conference fostered continued mutual growth for Platinum Members and Member Line executives,” said Michele Paige, President, FCCA. “Bringing together these two parties lets them better understand each other, along with all current happenings and offerings, in order to improve both relationships and business.”

It sparked this synergy by bringing together the group of key regional stakeholders and cruise line decision makers for a series of formal and informal meetings. Prescheduled one-on-one meetings provided Platinum Members a selection of cruise lines and departments to choose from in order to promote products and receive individualized input.

The long-standing PAMAC Meeting brought together the entire group to discuss operations and developments, with select Platinum Members giving presentations for the executives and other members to learn about and from, such as Carla Campos, Executive Director, Puerto Rico Tourism Company, displaying the destination’s recovery and preparations to enchant the expected 100 cruise executives and 1,000 attendees when hosting the upcoming 25^th annual FCCA Cruise Conference & Trade Show in San Juan from November 5-9.

The Meeting also let members to put any topic on the table for discussion by both the audience and a panel of Member Line executives leading the meeting: Carlos Torres de Navarra, VP, Strategic and Commercial Port Development, Carnival Corporation & plc; Albino di Lorenzo, VP, Cruise Operations, MSC Cruises USA; Russell Daya, Executive Director, Marine & Port Operations, Disney Cruise Line; and Federico Gonzalez-Denton, AVP, Government Relations, Latin America and the Caribbean, RCCL.

Plus, other cruise executives got into the mix during both the discussion and their own presentations promoting mutual benefits and opportunities with the Platinum Members. Jose Negron, VP, Strategic Port Development, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, presented “The 3 P’s of Business, People, Product & Process.”

Less formal meetings took place over settings like snorkeling above submerged Taino sculptures, sampling local delicacies at a pastel countryside cottage, zip lining through a mountain range, visiting a sugar cane mill while learning how to make cigars and an ATV tour with a pit stop at the “El Hoyo” cenote.

The tours—as well as nightly dinner receptions featuring local fare and sites—not only served as unique networking functions helping to build stronger relationships and lead to business between the members and executives, but also helped the group better understand the product and destination experience from a guest’s perspective. And Dominican Republic pulled out all the stops to display its hospitality, offerings and culture, including its delectable gastronomy, to the influential audience, while also proving its ability to accommodate large-scale events.

Dominican Republic further expanded the target on the cruise executives with an exclusive backstage pass to one of the Caribbean’s newest cruise destinations, Cap Cana, with a site visit to the marina before exploring Juanillo—home to the main beach for cruise guests and Scape Park, featuring an adventure complex including Xenotes Caribe waterpark—and making an appearance at the famous Punta Espada Golf Club and Eden Roc Beach Club.

This event is one of many throughout the year that the FCCA coordinates exclusively for its Platinum Members to meet with high-level executives from FCCA Member Lines in order for both parties to stay at the forefront of information, while remaining in constant contact and developing bilateral relationships that lead to success for all.

The FCCA’s next event will give similar opportunities to anyone interested in doing business with the cruise industry, with chances to network with and promote and exhibit to an expected 100 executives, including Member Line Presidents, CEOs and Chairmen. The largest and only official cruise conference and trade show in the Caribbean, the FCCA Cruise Conference & Trade Show will offer a series of meetings—including available one-on-one meetings—as well as networking functions like dinner receptions and tours, workshops with expert panels discussing topics such as evolving passenger wants and input from the CEOs and Chairmen, and exhibiting opportunities at the Trade Show. It will take place November 5-9 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and registration and more information are available at www.F-CCA.com/Conference. To inquire about a Trade Show booth or pavilion, please contact TradeShow@F-CCA.com.

*About the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA)
*Created in 1972, the FCCA is a not-for-profit trade organization that provides a forum for discussion on tourism development, ports, safety, security, and other cruise industry issues and builds bilateral relationships with destinations’ private and public sectors. Qingdao: A thriving coastal city

Qingdao: A thriving coastal city BEIJING, June 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- A news report by China.org.cn on Qingdao, where Confucius was born:

More than 2,500 years ago, Confucius said, "What a joy to have friends coming from afar." Over the weekend, the 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit was held in Qingdao, located in Shandong Province where Confucius was born. China Mosaic will take you on tour of Qingdao, the host city.

"Qing" means green in Chinese, indicating Qingdao has an agreeable climate and evergreen vegetation. The coastal city also has an inclusive culture, just as the Chinese idiom says, "The vast ocean admits hundreds of rivers." The ancient Greek-, Gothic- and Renaissance-styled architecture can be seen along the city's old streets, attesting to its multicultural heritage and continued efforts in international exchanges today. Now, Qingdao has 70 friendship cities from around the world.

The city has been a window for China to trade with the world since ancient times. In 623 AD, the Tang government set up Banqiao Town in Qingdao, which became the origin of the northern route of the Maritime Silk Road. At that time, cargo ships loaded with silk, porcelain and tea would set sail to the Korean Peninsula and Japan. Since then, openness has been deeply rooted in Qingdao's DNA. Qingdao's close relationship with other SCO member states is one of the reasons the city was selected to host this year's summit. In 2017, the total value of its imports and exports with SCO countries reached US$6 billion.

The sea not only brings uniqueness to the city's culture and trade, but also opportunities for its scientific development and marine industry. A third of China's R&D platforms and elite talents in the marine industry are located in Qingdao. The city's experts and infrastructures have contributed greatly to scientific undertakings like the deep-sea exploration of combustible ice and the Jiaolong submersible expeditions. In 2017, Qingdao's gross ocean product reached almost US$47 billion, accounting for 26.4 percent of the city's gross domestic product. Last year, the world's first semisubmersible intelligent offshore ocean farming facilities, manufactured in Qingdao, were delivered to Norway to help upgrade the country's salmon farming capabilities. China is also a major destination for Norway's salmon exports.

Qingdao thrives due to the golden opportunities brought by the ocean, allowing the city to develop its transportation, equipment manufacturing, supercomputing for marine research, marine biomedicine, marine education, marine tourism and sailing, and even the Qingdao Beer Festival. The city has also been doing its utmost to protect the blue waters. Qingdao is one of the first cities to implement the "bay-chief" system, under which the mayor is held accountable for water pollution around Qingdao's Jiaozhou Bay.

The city attaches equal importance to marine development and protection, while stressing both bold innovations and scientific development. Getting a boost from the hosting of the SCO Summit, Qingdao is embarking on voyages to become a distinguished international coastal city.

Introducing Love Sun Body – America’s First 100% Natural Mineral Sunscreens Certified by Ecocert Cosmos Natural and the Environmental Working Group – Reef-Safe & Vegan

NEW YORK (PRWEB) June 12, 2018

There’s a shakeup in sun care standards. Love Sun Body is the first internationally COSMOS-certified sunscreen available in the United States. It meets and exceeds the strictest ingredient, safety and manufacturing standards in the global market. With mineral filters Zinc Oxide or blending the minerals Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide, Love Sun Body utilizes only 100% natural ingredients obtained from plant-based ingredients. Love Sun Body offers healthy, effective broad-spectrum sunscreens for both adults and children that are not harmful to the planet.

Coral Reef Safe: Why Chemicals and Nano vs Non-Nano Matter
Hawaii is the first U.S. state to ban sunscreens with oxybenzone and octinoxate, two chemicals that are toxic to coral reefs and marine life. Even natural mineral ingredients can be harmful to the environment in nanoparticle size. That’s why Love Sun Body’s 100% natural ingredients are non-nano zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide (depending on SPF level) and the inactive food-grade ingredients do not contain GMO, parabens, phenoxyethanol, nanoparticles, silicon, PEG, synthetic perfumes, dyes or animal-derived ingredients. #reefsafe

European vs American Standards for UVA and UVB Protection
In the nations regulated by the European Commission, sunscreens offer potent UVA protection, significantly stricter than America’s FDA’s OTC Monograph System. Love Sun Body formulas meet both regulatory requirements and are the first and only sunscreens in the U.S. certified by Ecocert Cosmos Natural, the international standard for organic and natural cosmetics and skincare products. #sunsafety

Love Sun Body Earned EWG’s Best Score
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) rated Love Sun Body Sunscreens the best score of 1 out of 10 for safety and efficacy. All formulas are hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and water and sweat-resistant up to 80 minutes. #saferbeauty

But How Does It Look and Feel?
Love Sun Body absorbs quickly and leaves skin with a moisturized matte finish. SPF 30 is smooth and creamy leaving no white cast once absorbed. SPF 50 is a slightly heavier cream that leaves a hint so you know where it’s been applied and if any spots were missed. Formulas are gentle enough for the face, without eye-stinging ingredients. #healthybeauty

Available in 4 formulations: SPF 30 or 50, fragrance-free or lightly scented with Tiare flower and vanilla.
Price/Size: $21.00 for 3.38 oz / 100 ml (TSA carry-on approved) | $32.00 for 6.76 oz / 200 ml
Retailers: Birchbox, Credo, Neiman Marcus, Beauty Collection, Amazon, Dermstore, LoveSunBody

About the Founder
Dr. Terry Zickerman is a former banker who returned to his passion for science, biology and healthy living when he started Love Sun Body. It was born out of a conversation at the beach in Point Pleasant NJ with his family about the need for healthier sun protection. The EPL-EMGX-LP-2X48-LED-MS is a compact unit, measuring just 12 inches in width and 3 inches in depth, great for small spaces. This LED light is built with powder coated cast aluminum, and is IP67 rated, dust-proof, and protected against high pressure jets and temporary submersion, as well as resistant to vibration and impacts. A special heat dissipating design paired with LED technology helps this unit achieve a 60,000-hour rated lifespan and 80% lumen retention.

The EPL-EMGX-LP-2X48-LED-MS is offered with suspension pendant mounting, chain hang mounting or surface mounting options. This light can operate on standard 100-277V AC, 50/60Hz current without any modifications and comes equipped with terminal strips for wiring.

“This emergency explosion proof light is great for emergency use in smaller hazardous location spaces,” said Rob Bresnahan, CEO of Larson Electronics LLC. “It produces twice the light output while taking up less than half the surface area of other larger models and has a maintenance free self-charging battery that runs one lamp during power outages. The addition of a motion sensor offers security as well.”

KEMP, Texas, June 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Larson Electronics, a business that specializes in cutting-edge lighting systems and temporary power distribution stations, announced the release of a 15 KVA portable power distribution unit with industrial applications. The temporary power distribution station is mounted on a dolly cart with run-flat tires for robust mobility around the work site. The MGL-600V-15KVA-8X120.20A-2X240.30A accepts 600V three-phase power on the primary side (input) of the power distribution system, via 25 feet of #10 SOOW cord. The primary side of the unit consists of a NEMA 3R 30-amp 600V three-phase primary disconnect, which is protected by two, 30-amp time delay fuses, and passes 600V single-phase power to the transformer. The 15 KVA NEMA 3R transformer converts 600V to 120/240V single phase. The secondary side of the temporary power distribution station is equipped with a NEMA 3R 100-amp 120/240V single phase main lug only panel. This secondary panel provides operators with access to two, 30-amp breakers protecting two, 30-amp 250V L6-30R receptacles for 240V equipment and eight, 20-amp breakers protecting eight, 20-amp 125V GFCI duplex receptacles for 120V equipment. All receptacles are protected by weatherproof covers.

A heavy-duty steel dolly cart enables versatile transportation around the facility, by tilting the station back and pushing or pulling towards the desired location. Alternatively, a center-point pickeye can be used to lift the power distribution unit using chain hooks or other hoisting equipment. For tight spaces, operators may opt to lay the unit on the ground, passing it through manways and openings with low ceilings. As a NEMA 3R rated power distribution station, the unit is protected from water, dirt and external ice formation in both indoor or outdoor locations.

For maximum compatibility, Larson Electronics, as a UL 1640 panel shop, can customize this power distribution station to accommodate the power requirements of projects. Examples of customization: voltage, phase (single or three), panel configuration, transformer size, wiring configuration, panel ratings, mounting and more.

Skeena Nations prohibit all recreational and sport fisheries this season due to salmon crisis

PRINCE RUPERT, B.C., June 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Eight First Nations along the Skeena River watershed stand together to close the freshwater and marine recreational fisheries, and oppose recent actions by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and the Province of British Columbia, in response to an emerging salmon crisis that threatens Skeena watershed salmon stocks. The Skeena River is one of the largest freshwater systems in the Pacific Region of the north coast of British Columbia. The Skeena Watershed First Nations [Skeena Nations] are signatories to the Skeena Nations Fish Forum Protocol, and have territories, traditional fishing sites and rights along the Skeena River. The Skeena Nations accept the work and recommendations of the Skeena First Nations Technical Committee [SFNTC] which developed fishing plan recommendations for the recreational and commercial fisheries intended to protect Skeena Chinook. The SFNTC requested that DFO close all freshwater and marine recreational fisheries impacting Skeena Chinook, with no catch and release option. DFO did not follow this recommendation, and the result is a management regime that will exacerbate the crisis on the Skeena and allow for overfishing.

“We oppose the actions of DFO allowing the recreational fishery to harvest Chinook in this salmon crisis, and BC issuing guide outfitter permits and individual licenses to allow the recreational steelhead catch and release fishery to remain open,” stated Bruce Watkinson, Co-Chair of the Skeena Nations Fish Secretariat. “If Canada and BC are serious about their commitments to Indigenous Peoples, then the Skeena watershed and marine waters should be closed to all recreational salmon fishing for the 2018 season.”

DFO’s actions appease the recreational fishery but fail to live up to its obligations to protect the Skeena fishery and the interests of First Nations. “The Skeena Nations support conservation, however our Constitutional Aboriginal rights must be recognized and respected – to ensure this, we will engage in a collaborative process and dialogue with DFO and BC.”

*About the Skeena Nations *
In November 2015, eight First Nations signed the Skeena Nations Fish Forum Protocol, establishing the Skeena Watershed First Nations [Skeena Nations] and the Skeena Nations Fish Secretariat. Collectively they coordinate their respective governance on the Skeena River watershed. The First Nations’ signatories comprise of leadership from Gitga’at, Gitxaala, Gitxsan Hereditary Chiefs, Kitselas, Kitsumkalum, Lake Babine, Metlakatla, and the Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs.
